The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a good example of federal education policy. ESSA, passed in 2015, was a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), which was first passed into law in 1965, and has set the basic terms of the federal government's involvement in education ever since.
