The Institute for the Gifted allows students to discover their own academic motivations. It also improves their public speaking, independent thinking, teamwork, and problem solving. The counselors are positive role models and love working with students. This environment promotes independence and college preparedness.

Summer Programs are available to Princeton University students upon application and approval by the sponsoring department. Princeton does not have a regularly scheduled summer term for students other than those in Summer Programs.

Participating in such programs can help you develop your interests and skills, as well as give you a taste of college life. However, when it comes to improving your chances of admission, it's not necessarily a significant advantage.

Princeton's Summer Programs are highly competitive and prestigious. Every year, the Princeton Laboratory Learning Program receives over 700 applicants to fill a cohort of roughly 40, accepting approximately 6% of applicants. While statistics are not available for other programs, cohorts tend to be 40 students.

There is no doubt that Princeton is academically rigorous. With a history of grade deflation and a last report average undergraduate GPA of 3.49, Princeton has some of the most stringent grading in the Ivy League.

Princeton University was founded in Elizabeth, New Jersey, in 1746 as the College of New Jersey, shortly before moving into the newly built Nassau Hall in Princeton.
