Permits an undergraduate to repeat a course and have the repeated grade computed in his/her GPA in place of the original grade, providing the repeat grade is "D" or higher (exception - see Honors at Graduation). A course that is repeated and the repeat grade is "F" will have both grades calculated into the GPA.

Under the forgiveness policy, a maximum of two courses (not to exceed 7 hours) in which the student received a grade of C-, D or F may be excluded from the student's GPA calculation without repeating the course. The complete policy may be found within the Credits and Grades policy.

A grade of “A” earns four grade points for each hour of credit; “B” earns three grade points; “C” earns two grade points; “D” earns one grade point; “WF” and “F” earn no grade points; and “X” earns no grade points.

The five course withdrawals will be limited to three course withdrawals for students with less than 60 semester credit hours, and two course withdrawals for students with more than or equal to 60 semester credit hours. Only in extenuating circumstances will approval be granted for more than five course withdrawals.

The student is permitted to file for grade forgiveness for the same course only one time. Without utilizing grade forgiveness, the student who repeats the same course at UT will receive credit only once for the course, and all grades in the course will be averaged into the student's cumulative grade point average.

Grade Forgiveness Policy – Section 1003.4282(5), F.S. Forgiveness policies for elective courses shall be limited to replacing a grade of “D” or “F,” or the equivalent of a grade of “D” or “F,” with a grade of “C” or higher, or the equivalent of a grade of “C” or higher, earned subsequently in another course.

An “I” grade may be awarded at the discretion of the instructor only when the student is otherwise earning a passing grade and only if the incomplete is due to the omission or fault of the student.

USF's Grade Forgiveness policy permits Undergraduate and Non-Degree students only to repeat a course and have the repeated grade and hours earned computed in his/her GPA in place of the original grade and hours earned, providing the repeat grade is “D-” or higher (exception - see Honors at Graduation).
