The key to writing a strong statement is to understand what you should be demonstrating and how it connects to the evaluation process. These tasks often require you to link abstract qualities to your experience or research. In other words, you are making an implicit argument. Why you are prepared for this task?

A statement of purpose could also be known as a graduate school statement of intent, a goal statement for graduate school, or an academic goals essay. While some programs may only ask for one of these pieces, it's possible that your selected school might want a few of them.

Statements of intent often highlight your area of career interest and express how you are the best candidate for the process you are applying for. Statements are generally 2 pages with 1.5 or double spaced formatting. Be sure to follow the directions for your statement of intent to the exact specifications listed.

To begin your statement of intent, introduce who you are and explain why you're applying for that particular graduate program. Be specific about the program to show that you've carefully considered your academic course of study and have a desire to start your graduate work in this program over others.

The T2202 is issued by Canadian colleges, universities, or other educational institutions certifying that a student was enrolled in a program that qualifies for the federal tuition tax credit.

A statement of intent is more targeted and detailed, with a clear focus on your specific research interests. In your statement of intent, you must reference the programs you're applying to, and explain at length how you can contribute to them and which of their offerings most attract you.

Here is a sample statement of intent:Dear Ted Mosby,I intend to obtain my bachelor's degree in English literature from Wesleyan University. This is because of the exceptional work the institution has done in the English Literature sphere.
