Dealer's Reassignment of Title to a Motor Vehicle (Form. MVR-2)

The MVR-1 form is typically used by motor carriers, insurance companies, employers, and state or federal agencies to request a copy of a driver's motor vehicle record (MVR).

The Basics. Getting a driver's license is required before you can register your vehicle. Vehicle registration is required within 30 days of moving here or soon after obtaining a job within the state. Don't forget to register to vote too!

License plate will be revoked and must be surrendered for 30 days to an NCDMV license plate agency. The vehicle can be relicensed on the 31st day, upon payment of the license plate fee as well as required insurance penalties and fees and proof of liability insurance coverage (Form FS-1) from their insurance company.

For a title transfer, the information on the back of the original title must be completed by both the original owner and the recipient. North Carolina titles must be notarized. For out-of-state titles, NCDMV will recognize that state's requirements.

Motor Vehicles are valued by year, make and model in ance with the North Carolina Vehicle Valuation Manual. Values are based on the retail level of trade for property tax purposes. A motor vehicle offered for sale by a dealer to the end consumer represents the best example of the retail level of trade.
