Cle 38(a) of the Convention on the International Maritime Organization concerning the functions of the Marine Environment Protection Committee conferred upon it by the international conventions for the prevention and control of marine pollution, RECALLING ALSO that the International Conference on the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling Systems for Ships, 2001, held in October 2001, adopted the International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling Systems on Ships, 2001 (the AFS Convention).

Maritime commerce is the lifeblood of the global economy and America is open for business. The U.S. Coast Guard has the enduring responsibility to safeguard the U.S. Marine Transportation System (MTS) and enable the uninterrupted flow of maritime commerce.

The Judge Advocate General's Corps, also known as JAG or JAG Corps, is the military justice branch or specialty of the United States Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy. Officers serving in the JAG Corps are typically called judge advocates.

The Coast Guard is the lead federal maritime law enforcement agency and the only agency with both the authority and capability to enforce national and international law on the high seas, outer continental shelf, and inward from the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) to inland waters.

The Coast Guard employs a mixture of civilian attorneys and uniformed Judge Advocates General (CGJAG) who are commissioned Coast Guard officers. The CGJAG corps includes existing USCG officers who are educated in law and civilian attorneys and law students who have been direct-commissioned by the Coast Guard.

THE COAST GUARD LEGAL PROGRAM (CGJAG) The Coast Guard also exercises broad authorities on the high seas. CGJAG, including judge advocates, civilian counsel, reserve attorneys, and enlisted and civilian support staff are involved in every facet of Coast Guard operations and mission support.

Total Salary Range for US Coast Guard JAG The estimated total pay range for a JAG at US Coast Guard is $36K–$63K per year, which includes base salary and additional pay. The average JAG base salary at US Coast Guard is $47K per year.

If you are pursuing a degree above a master's degree, TA is not authorized in this manner. This includes pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD), doctoral degrees (PhD), and similar terminal degrees. The Coast Guard will fund tuition cost up to $250.00 per semester hour, $166.67 per quarter hour, or $16.67 per clock hour.
