W-2 FAQ
-
What 'IRS TREAS 310' means as a bank statement transaction. If you receive your tax refund by direct deposit, you may see IRS TREAS 310 listed in the transaction. The 310 code simply identifies the transaction as a refund from a filed tax return in the form of electronic payment.
-
If it's been at least two weeks since you sent the payment to the IRS and your financial institution verifies that the check hasn't cleared your account, call the IRS at 800-829-1040 to ask if the payment has been credited to your tax account.
-
You can also check with your bank after two business days to make sure the payment went through. If your bank confirms your payment was processed, but it does not appear in your IRS Online Account, contact us by phone.
-
Check or money order payments may take up to three weeks to appear. Debit/credit card payments will appear 1-2 days after your payment date.
-
If a taxpayer does not receive a refund, a special reminder notice may be sent with their updated balance beginning in early 2024. Taxpayers with questions on penalty relief can contact the IRS after March 31, 2024.
-
Use Where's My Refund, call us at 800-829-1954 (toll-free) and use the automated system, or speak with a representative by calling 800-829-1040 (see telephone assistance for hours of operation). If you filed a married filing jointly return, you can't initiate a trace using the automated systems.
-
If you are receiving a tax refund, check its status using the IRS Where's My Refund tool. You can view the status of your refund for the past 3 tax years. If you owe money or are receiving a refund, you can check your return status by signing in to view your IRS online account information.
-
'IRS Treas 310' is a code that identifies a direct deposit from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, typically signifying a tax refund from your recently filed U.S. tax return.
