Such fee shall be imposed at the rate of $1.50 for each new or remanufactured lead-acid battery sold. However, the fee shall not be imposed on any battery which has previously been taxed pursuant to s. 206.9935(2), provided the person claiming exemption from the tax can document payment of such tax.

Florida uses a bracket system for calculating sales tax when the transaction falls between two whole dollar amounts. Multiply the whole dollar amount by the tax rate (6 percent plus the county surtax rate) and use the bracket system to figure the tax on the amount less than a dollar.

The new tire fee is $1.00 for each new motor vehicle tire sold at retail in Florida and is imposed on the retail seller.

Charges to customers for dry-cleaning or laundry services or for the use of washing machines or clothes dryers are not subject to tax. Florida's sales and use tax rate is six percent (6%); however, most Florida counties also impose a discretionary sales surtax which must be collected and reported.

The Florida Department of Revenue has announced a local sales tax rate change. It took effect February 1, 2015. Palm Beach, Florida, increased its local option tourist development tax from 5% to 6%.
