Article 13 of the Sanitary Code requires that a “person-in-charge” who holds a valid Food Manager's certificate be on a food establishment premises during all hours of operation. Before any food vendor permit(s) can be issued, an Organizer application must be submitted and approved. The Vendor Permit Application fee is $95 (if the Vendor Application and permit fee are submitted less than 14 days prior to the event, an additional $70 late fee will be charged).

Manager Certification: for managerial or supervisory roles and is renewed every 5 years. Food Handler Certification: for employee-level positions directly handling food and is valid for3 years. Manager Certification requires a deeper understanding of food safety concepts and regulations.

Obtaining a Food Manager Certification The food manger certification examination may be taken at any accredited examination provider or training program. Certification is valid for five years.

Food Manager's certificate holders can renew their certificates in a shortened (2 half day) class by registering for the Renewal course within 90 days following expiration of their current certificate. The Renewal class is offered monthly and taught in our Yaphank offices. An exam is given on the second class day.
