Y scale operations involving laboratory use of hazardous chemicals. 2.0 PURPOSE The purpose of this document is to protect employees from chemical health hazards and to comply with the OSHA Standard for Occupational Exposures to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories, Title 29 Code of Federal Regulations 1910.1450. 3.0 POLICY The Temple University Chemical Hygiene Guide contains policies, procedures, and work practices necessary to protect personnel working in laboratories. The intent of this plan.

In 1990, OSHA issued the Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories standard (29 CFR 1910.1450). Commonly known as the Laboratory standard, it was developed to address workplaces where relatively small quantities of hazardous chemicals are used on a non-production basis.
