Workplace First Aid Courses Most workplaces within 20 minutes of the hospital, will require one or more First Aid Attendants with Level 1 First Aid certification.

Occupational first aid is specifically tailored to address workplace hazards and emergencies. It goes beyond the scope of standard first aid and includes additional training on specific work-related injuries and illnesses.

Red Cross Emergency First Aid, and Red Cross Standard First Aid are now officially recognized by Worksafe BC as equivalent to OFA 1.

Upon successful completion of all components, participants will receive a national certificate valid for three years.

Occupational First Aid Level 1 (Emergency First Aid for Industry) - Blended. This blended 8-hour certification course provides the first aid training needed to qualify participants as an Emergency First Aid for Industry (OFA 1) attendant.

If a job requires Standard First Aid, an OFA 1 certification would NOT be acceptable. This is because Standard First Aid is a more comprehensive 2 day course where an OFA Level 1 course is only 1 day, and less comprehensive.

One of the biggest differences between Occupational First Aid Level 1 and 2 is the content. Level 1 covers basic topics such as CPR, AED use, and bleeding control, while Level 2 goes into more depth on topics such as burns, fractures, and head injuries.
