Get MI Affidavit For License To Marry - Macomb County 2018-2024

When you apply for your marriage license, which is required in order to get married in Michigan, there is a legally bound three-day "cool down" period before you're allowed to actually have the certificate and be married officially. That period does NOT include the day you apply.

Marriage License applications are available at the Kalamazoo County Clerk's office and online. You apply for the license at the Clerk's Office in the county where one of the applicants resides. The license can then be used anywhere in the State of Michigan.

Please Note: One or both parties must appear at our office to apply for the marriage license, you must pick up the license in person.

The parties must obtain a Marriage Certificate from the Macomb County Clerk. The parties must pay a filing fee of $10 to the 39th District Court. The parties must have at least two witnesses over the age of 18 present on the date of the ceremony. The court does not provide witnesses for the ceremony.

Apply for a marriage license online. After submitting your application online, you can make an appointment to come in to the Clerk's Office for notarization of the affidavit, fee payment, and receipt of the license. Payment is done in the office upon receipt of the application. (YOU DO NOT PAY ONLINE.)

DO NOT APPLY MORE THAN 33 DAYS BEFORE YOUR WEDDING DATE. In order to WAIVE the THREE-DAY WAITING PERIOD, you must fill out a waiver and pay an ADDITIONAL $10.00. Once this process is completed, you will receive your marriage license ON THE SAME DAY YOU APPLY. The license is ONLY VALID in the STATE OF MICHIGAN.
