A Declaration of Conformity (DoC) is a document stating that a product, usually electronic, meets the standards to which it must legally adhere, such as safety regulations.

To establish conformity of an aircraft product, start with a TCDS. This document is a formal description of the aircraft, the engine, or the propeller. It is issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) when they find that the product meets the applicable requirements for certification under 14 CFR.

The purpose of an aircraft conformity inspection is to verify that your aircraft conforms to its type design and is configured/bridged to your approved program and operations.

Conformity inspection is a method of examining the product hardware and production documents defined by the end customers design approval program. Meeting these requirements ensures product conformity to those requirements.

When authorized by the project office, the DER completes a FAA Form 8120-10, Request for Conformity (RFC). The completed RFC is sent to the manufacturing inspection office to request the inspection, which may be performed by a manufacturing or airworthiness inspector or by one of their designees, a DMIR or DAR-F.
