Commercial vehicle motor carriers that conduct interstate commerce are required to pay unified carrier registration (UCR) filing fees annually based upon their fleet size.

To request access, please go to .permitting.ucr.gov and click on the “Company Signup” button. UCR has developed a tool that anyone can use to determine they need to register under the UCR Act. Share this new resource with non-registered carriers to make sure they are in compliance.

UCR stands for Unified Carrier Registration program. It is a federally-mandated system for registering operators of commercial vehicles who are involved in interstate and international travel. This annual UCR filing must be renewed by December 31 each year.

All drivers who transport cargo over state lines with a commercial vehicle needs a UCR. UCR stands for the Unified Carrier Registration program, which is mandated by the U.S. government. In other words, you must have a UCR in order to be DOT compliant.

The Plan oversees the federal UCR Agreement which requires individuals and companies that operate commercial motor vehicles in interstate or international commerce to register their business with a participating state and pay an annual fee based on the size of their fleet.

Who needs to sign up for the Unified Carrier Registration Program (UCR)? Any motor carrier that operates in interstate or international commerce needs to sign up for the UCR. This includes many businesses that aren't subject to the old Single State Registration System (SSRS), including: Private carriers.

Contact Your Base Jurisdiction's Unified Carrier Registration Office or Register Online. Each member jurisdiction maintains its own UCR registration office. You can also register online through the State of Indiana's portal. You may use the State of Indiana's system no matter where your jurisdiction is located.

The following types of vehicles don't count toward UCR fees: Interstate school busses. Emergency vehicles. Vehicles that way and have a manufacturer's weight rating of 10000 pounds or less including trailing equipment.
