A Fire Pit Permit is required for anyone who wants to have fire pits or campfires on a residential property. No other type of burning is allowed and burning without a current permit is contrary to the City of Grande Prairie Bylaw C-1312.

A CWPP is the means through which public citizens can provide their voices in fuels management and fire protection planning for their communities. This 2023 CWPP will identify fire hazards and community values at risk in Grand County and provide recommendations to reduce the risk of wildfire to life and property.

The shelter has an indefinite shelf life because its materials do not degrade in normal storage at the fire cache. Nevertheless, all shelters should be inspected when they are issued and every 14 days during the fire season. Only serviceable fire shelters should be taken to the fireline.

Fires and campfires are allowed in developed campsites and designated dispersed camping areas.

Most importantly, fire must have a 25-foot minimum clearance from all combustibles. This includes fences, trees, vehicles, and structures. Shall be contained in a fire pit or ring (this does not include 55 gallon barrels due to size limitations) Fire (flame) size must not exceed 3 feet in diameter, and 2 feet in height.

No Fire Restrictions in Effect.

WOOD OR CHARCOAL campfires ARE ALLOWED. Campfires are allowed in designated fire rings and grills only.
