Colors - Most cabinets can be painted with optional colors. JL Cabinets come in 14 optional colors: Bronze, Gray Prime Coat, Black, Flat Black, Red Safety Yellow, Sand, AMS Beige, SC Beige, Orange, White, Silver, Gray Hammertone, White Hammertone.

All fire extinguishers have a red or chrome body. Each type is identified using individual fire extinguisher colour codes shown on a band at the top of the extinguisher. Up until 1997, the body of the fire extinguisher was the identifying colour.

Extinguishers not on wheels are often installed on hangers or brackets, which need to be intended for the extinguisher, but they can also be installed in cabinets.

These cabinets can be locked and are used as theft and tamper deterrents because they appear to need a key to be unlocked, but because of the flexible cam, the cabinet can be easily opened with a sharp pull on the handle. Cabinets equipped with that feature are not considered “locked” for code purposes.

Fire Extinguisher Cabinet – Red.

Those with gross weights of no more than 40 pounds (lbs.) should be mounted with their carrying handles no higher than 5 feet from the floor. Larger fire extinguishers (over 40 lbs. gross weight) need to be mounted at lower heights, with their carrying handles no more than 3-1/2 feet from the floor.
