The Form 1098-T is a form provided to you and the IRS by an eligible educational institution that reports, among other things, amounts paid for qualified tuition and related expenses. The form may be useful in calculating the amount of the allowable education tax credits.

Lenders are required to issue Form 1098 when a homeowner has paid $600 or more in mortgage interest during the tax year. To deduct mortgage interest, you must be the primary borrower on the loan, and be actively making payments.

A qualified longevity annuity contract (QLAC) is a deferred annuity funded with an investment from a qualified retirement plan or an individual retirement account (IRA). They are available for purchase through many insurance companies.

What is Form 1098? Form 1098 Mortgage Interest Statement is used by lenders to report the amounts paid by a borrower if it is $600 or more in interest, mortgage insurance premiums, or points during the tax year. Lenders must file a separate Form 1098 for each mortgage that they hold.
