Number of Animals Allowed: Please note: Omaha residents may apply for a pet avocation permit which allows up to 5 dogs and up to 6 cats – but no more than 8 pets total.

ANIMAL LICENSE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Any person within the city limits who owns a dog or cat over 6 months of age is required to obtain a license for their pet. Rabies vaccinations are required at 3 months of age per state statutes and municipal code.

Nebraska doesn't have state-wide laws limiting the number of dogs your can own, but most municipalities limit households to three dogs each.

You are allowed to have up to 3 adult dogs (more than 6 months old) at one residence. A permit to own more dogs is available to those being annexed or in special zoned areas. There is a limit of 5 adult cats that can be kept at a residence. A maximum of 15 adult cats is allowed with two types of permits.

It shall be unlawful for any person owning, harboring or having the care of a pit bull to permit such animal to be outdoors unless confined in a securely fenced yard or unless the animal is under the control of a person 19 years of age or older, restrained securely by a harness and leash no longer than six feet and ...
