LEOSA - 2022 The Law Enforcement Officer's Safety Act (LEOSA) was passed in 2004 and amended in 2010 and 2013. It allows current and retired qualified Law Enforcement Officers to carry concealed weapons anywhere in US subject to some restrictions.

The LEOSA has limits and exceptions. It does not apply to all firearms and weapons. For example, it does not authorize either qualified law enforcement officers, or qualified retired law enforcement officers, to carry any of the following: machineguns, silencers, or destructive Page 3 devices.

LEOSA allows qualified active, retired or separated Law Enforcement officers to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the U.S. or U.S. Territories regardless of state or local laws.

When your LEOSA credentials expire after 5 years and you renew, do you have to pay the fee once again? Yes, after the 5 years has expired you will need to pay the renewal fee (lower cost). Army 926B only, 926C are good Indefinite.

Individuals carrying under LEOSA/HR 218 are carrying under FEDERAL Law and so must follow federal laws and federal agency policies that restrict the carrying of concealed firearms in certain federal buildings and lands (including buildings in national parks) and on airplanes.

LEOSA allows qualified active, retired or separated Law Enforcement officers to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the U.S. or U.S. Territories regardless of state or local laws.

Qualified former officers with a Michigan LEOSA identification certificate issued by MCOLES may carry as a concealed weapon within this state, any firearm inspected and approved by MCOLES. The card does not itself authorize a retiree to carry a concealed firearm outside this state.

Law Enforcement Safety Act. The LEOSA identification card is issued by the Maryland State Police to an individual who has been qualified as separating from the Maryland Department of State Police. This includes Maryland State Troopers and Maryland Deputy State Fire Marshals only.
