A rubric is a type of scoring guide that assesses and articulates specific components and expectations for an assignment. Rubrics can be used for a variety of assignments: research papers, group projects, portfolios, and presentations.

Strategy/Audience: Does the presentation address the intended audience? Structure: Does the organization reflect the purpose of the presentation and the needs of the audience? Support/Evidence: Is the evidence used to support the argument concrete, relevant, credible, accurate, and sufficient?

Mechanics Eye contact with entire audience, facial expressiveness. Fluency (complete sentences, with no filled pauses (uh, like, well, okay?) Hand and arm gestures, body movement, with no fidgeting. Use of visual aids (chalkboard, computer graphics, etc.) Voice control (pitch, loudness, speed, clear enunciation)

CRITERIA FOR EVALUATING SPEECHES The presentation must be original. The presentation must be appropriate to the assignment. The presentation must be sufficiently focused and appropriate for the audience. The presentation must be presented on the assigned day.
