How do I become a trade test center?

How do I apply to be accredited as a trade test centre for old trades? The potential trade test centre applies through the relevant SETA or NAMB for accreditation. NAMB will then process the application through the National Artisan Development Quality Assurance Committee (NADQAC) and make a recommendation to the QCTO.

A trade test is a final integrated summative assessment for an artisan qualification for a listed trade that is conducted at an accredited Trade Test Centre by an Assessor registered with National Artisan Moderating Body.

In order to qualify to write the trade test, students need to have successfully completed all practical training unit standards or modules for welding courses. Training should have taken place at an accredited training provider as verifiable by training records.

In order to be issued with a Trade Certificate, the learner must have completed and passed a Trade Test at an accredited trade test centre. To register for a trade test please contact your nearest accredited trade test centre.

Trade tests must be completed at an accredited Trade Test Centre by an Assessor who is registered with the National Artisan Moderating Body. Relevant (directly related to the trade theory subjects) N6 certificate or National Technical Diploma (T, S or N stream.)

Trade Testing has been set up in order to assess individuals who have acquired knowledge, skills and competence in a particular occupation but do not possess a formal qualification. Through trade testing a person is assessed in a particular area by sitting for the following types of assessment: Interview. Portfolio.

The course can be done either full time or part time. The full time course is four weeks long, while the part time course is 6 Weekends long.
