Most commonly an aquifer test is conducted by pumping water from one well at a steady rate and for at least one day, while carefully measuring the water levels in the monitoring wells. When water is pumped from the pumping well the pressure in the aquifer that feeds that well declines.

A slug test is a controlled field experiment performed by groundwater hydrologists to estimate the hydraulic properties of aquifers and aquitards in which the water level in a control well is caused to change suddenly (rise or fall) and the subsequent water-level response (displacement or change from static) is ...

A pumping test consists of pumping groundwater from a well, usually at a constant rate, and measuring the change in water level (drawdown) in the pumping well and any nearby wells (observation wells) or surface water bodies during and after pumping (see Figure 1).

In hydrogeology, an aquifer test (or a pumping test) is conducted to evaluate an aquifer by "stimulating" the aquifer through constant pumping, and observing the aquifer's "response" (drawdown) in observation wells.

A pumping test is a field experiment in which a well is pumped at a controlled rate and water-level response (drawdown) is measured in one or more surrounding observation wells and optionally in the pumped well (control well) itself; response data from pumping tests are used to estimate the hydraulic properties of ...

The calculation of aquifer parameters uses the Theis method, where the pumping rate (Q) is 7,23 m3/hour and initial aquifer saturated thickness is 12,0 m. To determine the value of the Theis well function and 1/u using the Theis curve matching system can be seen in figure 5. for OW1 observation well.

Aquifer parameters (e.g. hydraulic conductivity and transmissivity) are routinely determined from pumping tests. Pumping tests are very expensive and researchers have continued to explore cheaper and reliable alternatives to determine these parameters at locations without producing wells.

Pumping out method involves making a well into the ground that reaches the aquifer and penetrates it throughout its whole thickness. It is important that well penetrates the entire thickness of aquifer. It is called test well. Water is pumped out through this well and as a result ground water table lowers.
