People with rOCD may experience intrusive thoughts, fears, and anxiety about whether their partner is right for them, whether they are attracted to their partner or their partner is attracted to them, and intense doubt regarding whether they need to end their relationship.

The OCI-CV is a 21-item self-report measure that assesses obsessive compulsive symptoms in children and adolescents aged 7 to 17 years over the preceding one month26.

Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory – Revised (OCI-R) Scores are generated by adding the item scores. The possible range of scores is 0-72. Mean score for persons with OCD is 28.0 (SD = 13.53). Recommended cutoff score is 21, with scores at or above this level indicating the likely presence of OCD.

The OCI-R is a shorter version than the OCI (Fao et al., 1998). Even though the OCI-R has only 18 items, the paper states that "The OCI–R retains many of the qualities of the OCI. It was found to have good to excellent internal consistency, test–retest reliability, and convergent validity."

The developers of the OCI-R recommended a cutoff score is 21. What this means is that persons whose total score on the OCI-R is 21 or more probably have OCD. Of course, the diagnosis has to be made or confirmed by clinical evaluation.

For the OCD component of the OCI-R (items 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18), the total score ranges from 0 – 60, with higher scores indicative of more severe OCD symptoms. A cutoff score of 12 is used to determine the likelihood of an OCD diagnosis (with a sensitivity of 82% and specificity of 83%).

The OCI-R is a psychometrically sound and valid self-report scale measuring the major symptoms of OCD on six dimensions: Checking, Washing, Ordering, Hoarding, Obsessing, and Neutralizing.
