Throughout the 8th grade science curriculum, you'll have the opportunity to introduce students to primary forms of science: Life Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science. From cells & genetics to adaptations to ecosystems, students will learn about a variety of different Life Sciences in this series.

Among other subjects, students study the structure of atoms; the elements and the Periodic Table; chemical reactions; forces, including gravitational, motion, acceleration, and mass; and energy, including light, thermal, electricity, and magnetism.

Eighth graders will learn to differentiate between speed, velocity, and acceleration. In addition, students will investigate and describe applications of Newton's Three Laws of Motion and apply them to everyday situations.

The eighth grade is second, third, or fourth (and typically final) year of middle school. Students in eighth grade are usually 13-14 years old.
