Defer Admission to a Future Term Students may defer once only, with the exception of those enrolled in the English Language Institute (ELI) who may be granted a maximum of two deferrals. Any subsequent requests for deferral are considered new applications and will require a new application fee of $90.

For all requests to write your exam early or defer it to a later day/time, please email online@senecacollege.ca.

Deferred entry means a candidate is neither accepted nor rejected. In this case, if other candidates don't choose to attend the program, you may get in.

If you wish to take a semester off from a full-time day program, you must submit a completed Leave of Absence Request: Full-Time Program form to your Student Adviser using a valid Seneca email account.

The request for deferment of commencement of study, any accompanying evidence and a copy of the written advice to the student of the decision will be placed on the student's file.

Deferred enrollment. In exceptional circumstances, a student may be required to defer their program's start date to the next semester. If the student defers their program start date, it should be formally approved by the DLI. In some cases, the deferral is imposed by the DLI.
