The scores mentioned in the red band is the failing scores in STAAR tests. The students need a minimum of 25% to 35% in order to pass the tests. Every year the students receive a report card that states how well or how poorly they did in their tests.

Who? All public school students in Texas, grades 3–12, take STAAR tests. What? STAAR is the state's testing program and is based on state curriculum standards in core subjects including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.

The state of Texas requires that students pass (or substitute criteria) 5 STAAR exams (3 in 9th, Eng II in 10th and US History in 11th) in order to graduate. A high school student can opt out of STAAR and still graduate if they qualify for a combination of substitute assessments, IGC and other options.

Students in 5th grade take the Math, Reading, and Science STAAR Tests. The 5th Grade STAAR Test Dates of 2022 fall are as follows: Math – April 9th (Tuesday) Reading – April 10th (Wednesday)

STAAR is a standardized test given in the state of Texas to primary and secondary students. It is state mandated, which means if a public school is to receive funds in the state of Texas, they must give this test and your child is not allowed to opt out of them.

STAAR is an online assessment in mathematics, reading language arts (RLA), science, and social studies for students in grades 3–8 and high school and online tests in Spanish for students in grades 3–5.

All five STAAR EOC assessments required for graduation—Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and U.S. History—are administered at the end of the first semester (fall), at the end of the second semester (spring), and in the summer, giving students three testing opportunities each year.
