One needs to hold an NPS account for a minimum of 10 years to be eligible for NPS withdrawal before retirement. If the corpus is less than or equal to ₹2.5 lakhs, a subscriber can withdraw the entire amount, ing to new NPS premature withdrawal rules.

The subscribers can withdraw a partial amount from NPS account subject to following rules: The maximum amount of withdraw cannot exceed 25% of value of subscriber contribution. The subscribers are eligible for partial withdrawal only after three years of participation in NPS from the date of opening the account.

If the NPS corpus is less than Rs. 2,00,000, then the individual can withdraw the entire amount as lumpsum. A lump sum NPS corpus withdrawal can be postponed until 70 years of age if the subscriber wishes to.

On T+3 days, (T being the date of processing) the funds shall be transferred from the Trustee Bank to subscriber's bank account as registered in the CRA system.

The online withdrawal process can be initiated in either of the two ways: By subscriber using User ID & IPIN: The subscriber can directly initiate withdrawal application using his/her User ID & IPIN in the CRA system with in a period of 6 months before the age of superannuation/vesting date opted by subscriber.

Following documents are required to be submitted alongwith the duly filled Withdrawal form for Superannuation & Pre-mature Exit: Original PRAN card. Advanced stamped receipt, to be duly filled and cross-signed on the Revenue stamp by the Subscriber. KYC documents (address and photo-id proof)

As per PFRDA Regulations, the current NPS withdrawal rules are as follows: An individual, whether a government or a private-sector employee, can withdraw up to 60% of the NPS corpus as lumpsum upon attaining superannuation age (60 years). The remaining 40% has to be used to purchase annuities.
