If you get benefits for a period of time, then return to work, but become unemployed again, you can reopen your initial claim. You can also reopen a claim after a period of ineligibility has expired (for example, after you quit or are fired). To reopen a claim, log in to your account, or call us.

If you received an error message during your weekly certification, you likely answered a question incorrectly which, per federal law, has suspended the claim and your ability to collect benefits. The process to resolve this can take up to four weeks. Please continue to try to certify weekly.

If you filed your claim online, you may check the status of your claim by going to wagehour.nj.gov (have your confirmation number available). If you filed a paper claim, call 609-292-2305 (have your claim number available).

If we have your email address on file, we have sent you via email the information for your 1099-G for 2020. 1099-G information will also be available from the Check Claim Status tool no later than January 30. It will not be available in your unemployment dashboard.

You can reopen an existing claim online at nj.gov/labor/ui or by calling a Reemployment Call Center. When you first certify for benefits, you will choose a four-digit personal identification number (PIN). Write down your PIN and keep it in a safe, secure place.

Call IDES Customer Service Center at 800-244-5631 for questions around your claim. You can also call this number it you were unable to file your claim because of capacity or system limitations or to discuss backdating your claim with a representative.
