Form W-7 (COA) is a Certificate of Accuracy prepared by an ITIN Certifying Acceptance Agent (CAA) and attached to each Form W-7 (Application for IRS Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) that is submitted to IRS.

Designated Taxpayer Assistance Centers will certify only original and copies certified by the issuing agency passports and National ID cards. Service at the TAC is by appointment only. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 844-545-5640.

Complete the W-7 form through the Online Application. Include your original federal tax return(s) for which the ITIN is required. Attach the W-7 PDF we send to you via e-mail, to the front of your tax return. Leave the area of the SSN blank on the tax return for the person applying for the ITIN.

Form 13551, Application to Participate in the IRS Acceptance Agent Program, is now accepted year-round. The Service is actively recruiting Certifying Acceptance Agents. The goal is to increase the availability of individual ITIN services nationwide, particularly in communities with high ITIN usage.

You can call the IRS toll-free at 800-829-1040 if you are in the United States or 267-941-1000 (not a toll-free number) if you are outside the United States. This service allows you to check the status of your application seven weeks after submitting Form W-7 and your tax return.

As a reminder, ITINs with middle digits 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, or 87 that expired in 2016, 2017, 2018, or 2019 can also be renewed.
