Reassignment and Transfer "Reassignment" means a change of an employee's status from one position to another position with different performance requirements. "Transfer" means a change in an employee's geographic work location or reporting relationship.

If you're a current federal employee in the competitive service, you may transfer to another competitive job in another agency by applying to a job that is open to federal employees. You will not have to compete against the general public.

Under an employee transfer agreement, an employer can have its employees work for another company. The employee must give explicit or implicit content, and the original employer (let's call it Employer A) must fulfill its obligations to the employee. With employee consent, these transfers are legal.

All employees who have appointments that exceed 120 days receive a performance appraisal. Employees must be in a position for 90 days in order to receive a performance appraisal. CPSC has a 5 level system.

Only leave in whole hour units may be transferred between Federal agencies. Fractional hours of leave are transferable within the Department as long as the gaining organization has a reciprocal leave usage policy; otherwise, they must be forfeited.

319.2 Definitions “Reassignment” is the change of an employee's position, while serving continuously within the same agency, to another position without promotion or demotion, where the agency has a legitimate organizational reason for the reassignment.

Probationary Period In most cases, you must wait at least three months after your latest non-temporary competitive appointment before you may be considered for transfer to a position in a different line of work, at a higher grade, or to a different geographical area.

These categories include the medical condition of the employee or her spouse or children; the medical condition of a parent; and issues in co-parenting present in cases of divorce or separation.

Under certain conditions federal government employees may request reassignment from one organization or geographic location to another. This is a considerable benefit to the employee and it can also benefit the agency as well.
