Texas State Tuition Grant (TSTG) This institutional grant is awarded to Texas residents based on their financial need. Typically, this grant is awarded to eligible students once Texas Public Educational Grant funds are exhausted. For 2021-2022, the maximum award is $6,000.

To increase access to higher education, Texas State University offers the Bobcat Promise. This program guarantees free tuition and mandatory fees for 15 credit hours per semester to new entering freshmen with a family adjusted gross income that does not exceed $50,000.

Bobcat Build is an annual community service day that encourages thousands of Texas State students, faculty and staff to complete hundreds of service projects in San Marcos as a way of saying thank you for the community's continued support of the university.

Be classified by the institution as a Texas resident. Be registered with Selective Service, or be exempt. Have financial need, as determined by the institution. Be enrolled at least 3/4 time. Not have earned a baccalaureate degree.

Different Kinds of Scholarships Incoming Texas State freshmen have three categories of academic scholarships offered to them: National, Assured and Competitive. The Texas Public Educational Grant (TPEG) is a grant that was established by the Texas Legislature to help students with financial need attend public community colleges, public technical colleges, or public state colleges in Texas. The TPEG does not have to be repaid like student loans.
