Maine deed transfer tax rate The tax rate is $2.20 per $500 or a fractional part of $500 of the property's value being transferred. The tax is levied at 1/2 on the grantor and 1/2 on the grantee.

The tax is imposed ½ on the grantor, ½ on the grantee.

The federal government and the State of Maine, and their instrumentalities, agencies, and subdivisions are exempt from the real estate transfer tax, both as grantor and grantee.

There are no transfer taxes for Oregon, with the sole exception of Washington County. Real estate transactions in that particular area are subject to a transfer tax rate of $1 for every $1,000 of the sale price.

To be able to record the deed, it must be accompanied by a transfer tax form and payment of transfer tax. Transfer tax rate in Maine is “$2.20 per $500 or fractional part of $500 of the value of the property being transferred.” Further, transfer tax is imposed 50/50 on both the grantor and grantee.

Transfer Tax A tax of $4.40 per thousand is imposed upon the sale, granting, or transfer of real estate and interest therein. An exemption from the transfer tax must be clearly stated on the declaration of value form.

The rates that appear on tax bills in Maine are generally denominated in millage rates. A mill is the tax per thousand dollars in assessed value. For example, a home with an assessed value of $150,000 and a mill rate of 20 ($20 of tax per $1,000 of assessed value) would pay $3,000 in annual property taxes.
