Annual Testing Once every year, your clean agent suppression system must receive an annual test. Koorsen Fire and Security elects to perform these tests every six months since the system has to be disarmed during the semi-annual inspection anyway.

All clean agents are stored as either a gas or liquid, and when the system activates, it releases the clean agent as a gas to suppress the fire. Upon discharge, the clean agent removes or disrupts one of three elements needed to sustain a fire – heat, oxygen, or the fuel source.

At least annually, all systems shall be inspected and tested for proper operation by personnel qualified in the installation and testing of clean agent extinguishing systems. Discharge tests shall not be required.

Disposable fire extinguishers - Should be replaced every 12 years. Rechargeable fire extinguishers - Should be recharged every 6 years.

For containers equipped with a pressure indicator, if there is a loss of more than 5 percent of the quantity of clean agent or a pressure loss of more than 10 percent, the container must be refilled or replaced.
