  2. Begin by filling out the 'Cooperator', 'Location', and 'Identification No.' fields. Make sure that you provide accurate and relevant details related to the discharge summary.
  3. Next, identify the 'Conservation District', 'Field Office', and 'Field No.' to establish the context for your data. Complete each section with the correct information.
  4. Circle the appropriate option for 'Subarea name' based on your hydrograph analysis. Indicate whether the area is 'Present' or 'Developed' to categorize the land use.
  5. Enter the 'Frequency (yr)' that corresponds to the hydrological data you are analyzing, which signifies the frequency of significant events.
  6. Fill in the 'Basic Watershed Data Used' fields, including 'SubΣTt', 'Ia/P', 'AmQ', and 'Tc'. Ensure that these values reflect your calculations and are consistent with your watershed analysis.
  7. Select and enter hydrograph times in hours as prompted, referencing Exhibit 5 - 2. This will determine the duration for which the hydrograph data is being evaluated.
  8. For 'Discharge at selected hydrograph times', provide the discharge values in cubic feet per second (cfs). This data should be meticulously recorded based on your analysis.
  9. Indicate the rainfall distribution type used in your computations. This is critical for contextualizing the discharge data.
  10. Record any notes or adjustments needed based on Worksheet 5a. These should be rounded appropriately for consistency with Exhibit 5.
  11. Finally, enter the names and dates for the 'Design By' and 'Checked By' sections to authenticate your submission. Review your entries thoroughly before proceeding.

Technical Release 55 (TR-55) presents simplified procedures to calculate storm runoff volume, peak rate of discharge, hydrographs, and storage volumes required for floodwater reservoirs.

The TR-55 graphical method calculates peak discharge based on the concept of unit peak flow. The unit peak flow is the peak flow per unit area per unit runoff depth.

TR-20 represents the full-bore implementation of these methods, whereas TR-55 is a more simplified version that lent itself more to hand calculations. TR-55 was a simplified procedure that was used when engineers didn't have computers that could properly crunch the numbers for them. It was simplified from TR-20.

If the Rational method is not used, TR-55, Urban Hydrology for Small Watersheds (NRCS) (see Section 2B-5), may be used for drainage areas up to 2,000 acres.

WinTR-55 is a single-event rainfall-runoff small watershed hydrologic model. The model generates hydrographs from both urban and agricultural areas and at selected points along the stream system. Hydrographs are routed downstream through channels and/or reservoirs.
