Follow the steps to fill out the form effectively.

  1. Click the ‘Get Form’ button to access the Lab Making A Model Of DNA form and open it in your preferred document editor.
  2. Begin by entering your name, date, and period at the top of the form. Ensure that each field is filled out accurately to avoid confusion.
  3. Review the objectives of the lab, which include making a model of DNA and matching complementary bases. Familiarizing yourself with these goals will help guide your project.
  4. Gather your materials as listed: scissors, glue sticks or clear tape, and colored pencils. Make sure you have everything ready before proceeding to the next steps.
  5. Follow the procedures outlined in the lab section. Begin by coloring the DNA monomer parts as specified. Each part should be colored according to the given instructions.
  6. Cut out the DNA monomers along the solid lines, being careful not to cut on the dotted lines. Keep the cut pieces organized and safe.
  7. Place half of your monomers on your desk, ensuring they are all facing the same direction. Connect them to form the DNA backbone, paying attention to order, which is not critical at this point.
  8. Once satisfied with the placement of the nucleotides, ask your teacher for a review. They will stamp or initial your notebook when you have constructed the backbone correctly.
  9. Arrange the remaining nucleotides to face in the opposite direction, matching each base with its complementary base on the first strand. When you have done this, proceed to tape or glue the bases and backbone together.
  10. Finally, complete the analysis and conclusions section as required. Answer each question thoughtfully and refer to the lab for clarity.
  11. Once all sections are filled out, review the document for any missing information, then save your changes, download, print, or share the completed form as needed.

DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid is a molecule that contains the genetic code that is unique to every individual. Think of this code as an instruction manual for making all the proteins that form our bodies and help them thrive. The information coded in DNA is hereditary, meaning that it passes from parent to child.

Uracil is absent in DNA. It is found in RNA. In place of Uracil, Thymine is found in DNA.

Answer and Explanation: DNA has a double-helix structure. It is composed of units called nucleotides. Nucleotides have a sugar group, a phosphate group, and a nitrogen base that can be either adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), or thymine (T).

DNA is made of two linked strands that wind around each other to resemble a twisted ladder — a shape known as a double helix. Each strand has a backbone made of alternating sugar (deoxyribose) and phosphate groups. Attached to each sugar is one of four bases: adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G) or thymine (T).

The Watson and Crick Model of DNA shows a double stranded helix, that resembles a twisted ladder. From this model, it was discovered that: DNA is double stranded. DNA takes on the shape of a double helix, or twisted ladder.

The three-dimensional structure of DNA—the double helix—arises from the chemical and structural features of its two polynucleotide chains.

DNA is made up of long chains of nucleotides. To make a complete DNA molecule, single nucleotides join to make chains that come together as matched pairs and form long double strands. Each nucleotide is comprised of the following: A five-sided (pentose) sugar called deoxyribose.

Each molecule of DNA is a double helix formed from two complementary strands of nucleotides held together by hydrogen bonds between G-C and A-T base pairs. Duplication of the genetic information occurs by the use of one DNA strand as a template for formation of a complementary strand.
