How to fill out the Sketchup online
This guide provides a detailed overview of how to effectively fill out the Sketchup online. By following these straightforward instructions, users can create 3D models suitable for printing with ease.
Follow the steps to complete your Sketchup online form.
- Click the ‘Get Form’ button to access the Sketchup form and begin completing it.
- Open Sketchup and select ‘Choose Template’ to begin. Scroll down the template list and select either ‘3D Printing-Inches’ or ‘3D Printing-Millimeters,’ depending on your unit preference.
- Click ‘Start using Sketchup.’ You will see a bounding box that does not correspond to the printer specifications available. You can delete this bounding box to proceed.
- Using the ‘Shapes’ tool, select a rectangle, circle, or polygon as the basis for your model. Click once on the workspace to start creating your shape.
- Pull your cursor outward without dragging. Carefully observe the changing measurements displayed at the bottom left corner of the screen. Click again to finalize your shape or type in the dimensions directly.
- For rectangles, input the Length and Width. For circles, enter the diameter. For polygons, define the number of sides before clicking to start your shape and then provide the diameter.
- Select the Push/Pull tool and click on your shape to begin the extrusion process. You may type in your desired extrusion distance or click to finalize.
- You now have the foundational block of your model. Use additional shape tools and the pencil tool to add details, manipulating shapes as necessary, ensuring to maintain a singular integrated model for printing.
- When your model is complete, select the entire model by triple clicking on it. Right click and choose 'Entity Info' to confirm that the model is prepared for printing.
- Ensure that your model is classified as a 'Solid Group' by using the Make Group function. If 'Solid Group' is not displayed, there may be stray components that need to be removed.
- Navigate to Window > Extension Warehouse and locate the SketchUp STL extension. Download and sign in to your Google account, agree to the terms, and install the extension.
- With your model selected, export your file by navigating to File > Export STL > Export. Remember to keep the .stl extension in the file name when you save.
- Finally, choose the desired location to save your exported file and confirm the savings.
