Get Bus Behavior Contract

A behavior contract is an agreement between your child and your child's teacher. It often includes you, too. The contract outlines expectations for your child's behavior. It lays out any specific behaviors your child struggles with or is working on, along with goals for those behaviors.

When you see bad behavior, gently redirect each child and let them know that they will be rewarded with the privilege to choose their own seats only if they respect the rules of the bus. If students continue to misbehave, have them sit in a designated seat that is always empty for a defined period.

What it is: Behavior contracts are individualized written agreements that are used to change student. behavior(s). Contracts should: • define student expected positive behaviors. • establish a set of criteria in which to achieve the desired behaviors.

Also called a contingency contract, the behavior contract is a document that is signed by the contingency manager and the individual whose behavior is being changed. The contract specifies a target behavior that needs to be completed and how the individual will receive reinforcement for completing it satisfactorily.

For example a contract might be drawn up with a child specifying their reward of a star for not bed-wetting. These agreements make clear the schedule of reinforcement being applied and in signing up to the agreement it is understood that this might motivate the client to cooperate with the program.

Behavior contracts often include “Who, What, When, and How well” components. The Who specifies who will perform the task and receive the agreed upon reward. The What includes the task that the student must perform. The When emphasizes what time the task or behavior will be completed.

For example, if your child has trouble remembering to raise her hand in class, the contract may include a goal that she call out less than three times a day. If handing in homework is a problem, the contract might specify that she turn hers in at least 90 percent of the time.
