If you've done poorly on a test for whatever reason, consider asking your teacher to let you retake it. Retaking a test means that you're accepting responsibility for your education, and many teachers respect a sincere desire to try again and do better.

Attach a copy of the assignment, if possible, and be clear about the type of feedback you want. Let your professor know that you're looking for advice on quoting sources, developing your argument, or clarifying your ideas. You can also send an email to your professor asking to meet about your assignment.

State your concern: Express your concern about your exam and grade and why you believe you may have earned a higher score. Be specific and provide examples of areas where you feel you performed well, but did not receive full credit.
