Requirements An upright citizen of the United States. A resident of or employed by DeKalb County * 16 years of age or older. Able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Not be a candidate for office or a relative of a candidate for office in the assigned poll. Not hold a public office.

To qualify as a poll worker you must be registered to vote in Pima County (A.R.S. § 16-531). Inspectors, Judges and Marshals must be registered to vote as either a Republican or a Democrat.

Poll workers conduct assigned duties at a polling site during early voting and on Election Day. Duties can include processing voters, explaining how to mark a ballot, use the voting equipment, or counting votes.

In addition to learning firsthand how elections are run, student poll workers can be paid a stipend that generally ranges between $65 and $150, depending on the county.

Individuals who complete the training class will receive payment of $32. Inspector hours for the Primary Election and General Election are the same: 5:15 AM to 9:30 PM (approximately). Inspectors are paid $256 for working either of these days. Polls are open from 6 AM to 9 PM.

Poll workers are paid for training and will receive a stipend from $75 to $320 for working in an election depending on their position.

A poll worker must be 18 years old (or 16 if a high school student), a US citizen, and a registered voter in California. Additionally, non-citizens with permanent resident status who would otherwise be eligible to vote are allowed to serve as poll workers.
