Scouts BSA (formerly Boy Scouts) is the flagship program of the BSA for youth ages 11 to 18; 10-year-olds can join after March 1 of their fifth grade year or if they have earned the Arrow of Light award. Venturing is the program for ages 14 to 21.

Its programmes include Squirrel Scouts (aged 4–6), Beaver Scouts (aged 6–8), Cub Scouts (aged 8–101⁄2), Scouts (aged 101⁄2–14), Explorer Scouts (aged 14–18) and adult Network members (aged 18–25).

Cub Scout pack unit coordinated camping is limited to single overnight experiences. Cub Scout camping is a family-centric program. Cub Scout youth may tent with a parent or guardian as outlined in Scouting's Barriers to Abuse. Cub Scout youth should attend the camping event with their parent(s)/ guardian(s).

In Cub Scouting, parents and guardians may share a tent with their family. In all other programs, youth and adults tent separately. Spouses may share tents.
