How to fill out the PWHT instruction sheet online
The PWHT Instruction Sheet is a critical document used to specify parameters for post weld heat treatment. Filling out this form accurately ensures compliance with welding standards and quality requirements in engineering projects.
Follow the steps to complete the PWHT instruction sheet online.
- Click the ‘Get Form’ button to obtain the PWHT Instruction Sheet and open it in your preferred editor.
- Enter the field weld number and system/line number in the designated fields. This information identifies the specific welds that require heat treatment.
- Record the nominal thickness of the field welds to be heat treated. Ensure that the thickness conforms to the requirements specified by the governing fabrication code.
- Input the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) or Welding Technique Sheet (WTS) number that was used for the welding of the field welds.
- Specify the heat treatment temperature range in degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius, as indicated on the Welding Technique Sheet.
- Set the set point temperature, which should be the mean of the heat treatment temperature range, and ensure it is maintained during the holding time.
- Record the holding time based on the nominal thickness and the values from the Welding Technique Sheet.
- Enter the heating rate above 600 °F (315 °C) as specified in the PWHT Procedure.
- Document the cooling rate above 600 °F (315 °C) as specified in the PWHT Procedure.
- List any specific instructions, such as equipment to be used or temperature adjustments.
- Have the LANL Manager, Supervisor, or designee sign and date the completed PWHT Instruction Sheet.
- After the PWHT operation, the LANL Manager or designee should review and approve the strip recorder chart, then sign the PWHT Instruction Sheet.
Begin filling out your PWHT instruction sheet online today to ensure proper documentation for your post weld heat treatment operations.
Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT), or stress relief as it is sometimes known, is a method for reducing and redistributing the residual stresses in the material that have been introduced by welding.
