Thinking conceptually about non-literary texts and literary works can be hard. Here are some ideas from author Brad Philpot to get your learners thinking about the seven key concepts: communication, creativity, perspective, representation, identity, culture and transformation.

Language acquisition consists of two modern language courses— language ab initio and language B—designed to provide students with the necessary skills and intercultural understanding to enable them to communicate successfully in an environment where the language studied is spoken.

IB English Literature (HL and SL) Course description. English A1 is a broad, literature-based course with a core of foundational English literature texts and, significantly, it encourages a real diversity of authors, including gender parity.

Language ab initio courses are for beginners (that is, students who have little or no previous experience of learning the language they have chosen). These courses are only available at standard level. Language B courses are intended for students who have had some previous experience of learning the language.

English A is generally referred to as American English ,whereas,English B is all about British English. The basic differences or the point of distinguishing these two different branches of English lies in it's vocabulary.

International GCSE English Language A and B are both Level 2 qualifications and are generally equivalent. Often, students who are being taught in school do specification A, and those who merely want to prove that they have competence in English (often older students, not in education) do specification B.

The language A: literature course introduces students to the analysis of literary texts. It is the course through which the IB's policy of mother-tongue entitlement is delivered.

The exams can be a hard spot for IB for many students, and one of its flagship subjects, English Literature, is considered difficult and its exam is no different.
