Here is an example of a conclusion versus a resolution: Resolution: The team happily celebrated their victory after a challenging face-off with their rival. Here, the resolution marks the end of a story.

There are three main parts to a draft resolution: the heading, the preamble and the operative section. The heading shows the committee and topic. It also lists the draft resolution's signatories (see below).

Resolutions begin with "Whereas" statements, which provides the basic facts and reasons for the resolution, and conclude with "Resolved" statements which, identifies the specific proposal for the requestor's course of action.

Resolutions are essentially one long sentence. There are normally three elements in a resolution: the name of the organ, the preamble and the operative part.

A resolution has two parts: the heading and the body. The heading is the administrative/organizational portion of a resolution and contains the name of the committee, the topic, and the names of the sponsoring countries, the countries that are signatories, and the committee code.

Draft resolutions should be single-spaced with each line following the heading numbered in the left-hand margin. The first word in each clause should be underlined, and each clause in the preamble should end with a comma. All operative clauses end with a semicolon except the final clause, which ends with a period.

A Resolution has three parts: a Heading, a Preamble and Operative Clauses. The Heading includes the committee name, topic of discussion, Draft Resolution number and Sponsors and Signatories (see below). For an example heading, click here.

The resolution number can go to the top right corner of the document. The number differentiates board resolutions, usually by the order they are approved, so it's easy to reference them. There's no fixed way of numbering your resolutions. However, consider numbering them chronologically.
