Persons, who are not VAT-registered, who sell goods, properties or services, whose annual gross sales and/or receipts do not exceed three million pesos (Php3,000,000.00) and are exempt from value-added tax (VAT) under Section 109 (BB) of the National Internal Revenue Code, as amended by Republic Act (RA) No. 10963.

A resident alien, non-resident citizen, or non-resident alien involved in business or practice of profession within the country, or. A trustee of a trust engaged in trade or business. A guardian of a minor engaged in trade or business.

The BIR has also ruled that while BMBEs are exempt from income tax, they are required to file income tax returns. Any person, natural or juridical, may apply for registration as a BMBE.

BMBE benefits include income tax exempted, and no required minimum wage, and received training from respective agencies. Once you've registered your business as BMBE, it still requires you to file your annual income tax and pay the quarterly business taxes. There are other ways to reduce your taxes on your business.

Other examples of micro businesses are laundry shops, computer shops, printing shops, and canteens. It must still be noted that their total assets shall not exceed Three Million Pesos (P3,000,000.00) to be considered as BMBE to be qualified for the incentives provided by law.
