Teachers can work in Louisiana schools without a state-issued certification. However, jobs in the state's public school systems require certification. Educators who do not hold certification have fewer job opportunities.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROGRAM TAKE? You must complete your instructional coursework within six months. The whole iteach program is designed to be completed within one school year, but you have two full school years to find a teaching position while enrolled in iteach.

Agreements between states that allow teachers certified in one state to teach in another state are called reciprocity agreements.

Individuals who hold a standard certificate to teach in another state or territory, seeking certification in Texas, must first apply for a review of credentials. A standard certificate is defined in TAC §230.111(c). Texas does not have reciprocity with any state.
