Form TSP 70 is the form you need to fill up and submit when making a request for a full and immediate withdrawal of your entire vested Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) account balance. The TSP 70 form may be used only after you leave federal employment, and your employing agency confirms your separation from Federal service.

You cannot voluntarily reamortize—change the term and payment amount of—your loan. Your loan payment amount only changes if there's a change in your payroll schedule or following the suspension of loan payments during a period of nonpay status.

2023 Contribution Limits The Internal Revenue Service has announced the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) elective deferral limit for 2023 will increase to $22,500 per year.

Perhaps the biggest difference is that a TSP Life Annuity is an irrevocable choice, while installment payments can be changed frequently. With installment payments, an individual can start and stop payments at any time and change the amount of the payments multiple times a year.

Starting at age 72, the government requires that you withdraw a portion of your TSP every year. Why do they do this? Because they want to get a piece of the action. Basically, whenever you withdraw money from your traditional TSP account that is when you pay taxes.

You should ask the TSP Service Office for Form TSP-73 or TSP-U-73, if you want to: Change your monthly payments to a final single payment. The final single payment can be made directly to you, or you can have the TSP transfer all or part of it to a traditional IRA or an eligible employer plan.

To request a withdrawal, log into My Account on the TSP website and click on the “Withdrawals and Changes to Installment Payments” link on the menu. From there you'll have access to an online tool with which to start your withdrawal.
