I recommend 5-10 minutes per product to give you time to tweak your styling and positioning of the product, take the shots and then carefully pack them away when you are done. Editing your images can often take as much time as it took to shoot the image so I recommend at least 5 minutes per product for editing.

Editorial shoots in particular can take a while because they are a creative process. Usually, though, you can expect to be there for a few hours – this includes getting hair styled by a hairdresser and make-up applied by a professional makeup artist, getting outfits on, and posing in front of the camera.

Photo shoots usually take a minimum of two hours, but can last a full eight-hour day or more. The exact amount models make for a photoshoot depends on numerous factors, including your experience level, the type of modeling, and the length of the shoot.

Real modeling agencies won't ask you to pay for a test shoot, for your photographs, or to “secure your spot” for a modeling job. They'll find jobs for you and pay you after the client pays them. The contract you sign with the agency should tell you what percentage the agency gets of any money you make on assignments.

It's usually best to start the shoot with simple poses, sitting and standing, get some decent poses and photos in the bag, and then move on. As the shoot progresses, you can incorporate things that are a little more creative, more candid shots, looking off-camera, folding your arms, moving around a bit.
