The WaterMark Certification Scheme is a mandatory scheme for plumbing and drainage products of a certain type. Certification ensures products are fit for purpose and appropriately authorised for use in plumbing and drainage installations. The Australian Building Codes Board administers and manages the Scheme.

There are 18 Watermark communities in the Golden State in Beverly Hills, Carmel, Oakland, Corona del Mar, Emeryville, Fremont, Laguna Niguel, Livermore, Los Angeles, Napa, Oceanside, Riverside, Roseville, San Francisco, San Gabriel, San Jose, San Ramon, and Whittier.

WaterMark certification must be displayed on the product. Each WaterMark certification requires a manufacturing site quality plan audit. The manufacturer's ability to manufacture and batch test must be assessed. If there is no production at first audit, then another audit is required within 12 months.
