The Lethality Assessment Program, developed by the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence, is a series of 11 questions officers ask victims when they respond to a domestic violence call or take a report of domestic violence.

At the lowest “subliminal” level (score 1) of lethality suggests that death impossible to highly improbable as a result of the attempt. At low level (score 2) death is improbable; it is not the usual outcome of the attempt, but it may be possible as a secondary complication or factors other than the suicidal behavior.
