Known as “The Automotive Capital of Canada,” Windsor is famous for its connection to the original Ford Motor Company factory.

"Soon [roses] were noted as being such a prominent flower in the community to the extent where one of our former mayors — Mayor Frank Mitchell — was quoted as saying, 'There are more roses in this town than any other Canadian city of this population. They ought to call Windsor, Rose Town, as a nickname. '"

The City of Windsor announced the Tufted Titmouse as the city's Official Bird on April 12, 2023. The Tufted Titmouse is a unique songbird with strong ties to oak woodland and oak savanna.

Windsor's roots are reflected in its corporate Coat of Arms, which hangs in the Council Chambers of City Hall. The motto, "The River and the Land Sustain Us" reminds us of the foundation of our city's well being and the need to care for the environment.

Transit Windsor is part of the Office of the City Engineer, which falls under the corporate structure of the City of Windsor.

The rose represents the known fact that Windsor is the “City of Roses”. The maple leaf and red background reassure us that Windsor is patriotic—Canadian. Below is the birth date of our city—1854. The laurel leaves on each side glorify our past.
